A Widow’s offering a story of giving your all

Luke 21:1  And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury.

Luke 21:2  And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

Luke 21:3  And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all:

Luk 21:4  for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.

This story speaks to the heart of giving and that is not about the ostentatious nature of the

act of giving.  Since today we marvel at the millions of dollars Bill Gates and Warren

Buffet gave to charity or foundations or what have you. For a lot of people millions is a lot of money but for both of them does it really matter? If you enjoy human wealth so much then your answer would be a "yes" but if you compare that to someone who gave the last money they have to buy themselves something to eat (a meal) then what these billionaires gave could not even match the generosity of the widow who had to give away her last means to purchase a meal.  The mere fact that the Luke highlighted that the woman is poor more so that she was a widow adds to the gravity of her offering. You could have had second thoughts giving away your last money for the Lord but to the widow who had nothing more than what she possesses at the time and more likely she had no other means of work to sustain her this farther the cause of her giving.

We can give all right but to give your all is something else.  Even in our business and work - the attitude must be about giving your all (but do not compromise your other responsibilities in life).  Besides Paul gave this message to the Colossians;

Colossians 3:22  Servants, in all things do the orders of your natural masters; not only when their eyes are on you, as pleasers of men, but with all your heart, fearing the Lord:

Colossians 3:23  Whatever you do, do it readily, as to the Lord and not to men;

Colossians 3:24  Being certain that the Lord will give you the reward of the heritage: for you are the servants of the Lord Christ.

This simply signifies that what we do (everything for that matter) must be as if we are offering it to the Lord.  Besides at the end of the day you will end up with more business with your existing client or even a growth in your client base simply because you provided them service that even God Himself would be happy to receive.

Give your all to Jesus.

To God be the glory!

Shalom!
